I'll have to agree with Aaron on that point. You can do fairly well on a smaller site as long as you're willing to accept the fact that targeting single word keywords is just not going to cut it.

I would have tp disagree, big companies have a lot of red tape and really dumb policies, a SMB can easily out rank a larger company IF they have a good SEO team to work with.

SEO is a pain and if you are a small company chances are you will be blown out of the water by big companies. I try to do my own SEO and it aint too bad but a lot of hard graft

This site seems to get a large ammount of visitors. How do you promote it? It gives a nice individual spin on things. I guess having something useful or substantial to give info on is the most important thing.

I think this still proves that good old fashioned SEO tactics still work. Im currently working on a project site called www.allincusivelinks.com We are hoping to make it the definitive "super multi directory"

A tip from me, keep content on your site that people want to go back to see and or allow people to have do-follow links on your blog. In some cases the only reason someone may find your blog is with the promise of a do follow link (or sometimes any link at all will do) but those are the people that just pop in and drop off the face of your blog forever. Keep the content interesting and you will have a dedicated visitor.

But kudos on your blog, congrats and good luck in the future with its growth!

I had never thought about putting one of my blogs on a do follow list in order to improve my page rank and traffic. Thanks for sharing your results.

It seems as though for the most part, that you are indeed able to manipulate the organic results. However for users to return time and again to your site, surely the content and links need to be both relevant and authentic, otherwise it will discourage genuine blog enthusiasts from participating.

It's a good idea. Maybe you will lose PageRank, but you will increase traffic. Maybe I'll allow dofollow links on my blog.

I honestly have no clue how the PR works, I had my domain for over 5 years now and still in a 2PR. I don't really care any more.
